Poor Shadows of Elysium
“Every humour hath his adjunct pleasure, wherein it finds a joy above the rest.”
Poor Shadows of Elysium is committed to the joy of theatre, with primary focus on the works of the English Renaissance. We seek to share with our audience the truth, humanity and poetry of Shakespeare and his contemporaries by showing them how little people have changed in the past 400 years. We stress the similarities between the Renaissance stage and the modern world.
Our focus is on the text. All other elements of the production, from setting to staging conditions, should support the text, instead of the text being forced to support some element we’ve added.
