Blipswitch's UNSTILL LIFE was a mosaic, a kaleidoscope, a swirl, time-traveling through living dioramas of contrastive color palettes, music, and movement vibe.

Blipswitch Movement has just finished its latest big show in Austin, Unstill Life, at the historic Wolf House a few blocks east of I-35 on Cesar Chaves St. in east Austin. The brainchild of Taryn Lavery, Alex Miller, Nathan Brumbaugh, and Lucy Wilson, the group has extended its quirky signature pattern of finding alternative performance spaces in which to install its work. From the Curtain Theatre (and surrounding fairyland) in far western Travis County …

Review: A HAIR CAN SPLIT THE DIFFERENCE, Blipswitch Dance to April 2, 2023

Thirteen women dancers of BLIPSWITCH commanded the vast outdoors of The Long Time with a mosaic of contemporary movement technique. Their smooth large-scale performance exceeds anything similar done in the region.

Blipswitch's large-scale performance A Hair Can Split the Difference exceeds anything similar by other professional dance companies in the region. That formidable production plays at the Long Time outdoor venue off FM969 in eastern Travis County. Blipswitch gave a smooth, skilled performance lacking glitches and rain, which had been forecast. Unlike other companies with growing pains when they increase in scale, Blipswitch had no miscues, errant lighting, or fractious sound systems.       The performance …

Review: A Short Stop at the Long Time by BLiPSWiTCH

Weather and a power failure posed no obstacles to BlipSwitch's creative dance interpretations of Frank Curry's gray-scale images of humans as insects. Blipswitch is nimble, and its doughty fans scramble to keep up.

Afterward, the up-and-coming synth band Grand Maximum, performed live to all hours. The final …

BLiPSWiTCH shows again that they can organize and produce top-of-the-mark dance shows as well as performing in them. Continue to watch for their productions. They seem always to inspire with their arts.

Many are available at the Blipswitch Facebook page  postings for September, 2021] Offbeat X is the tenth edition of BLiPSWiTCH Movement’s presentation of invited collaborations in dance. Review: DEAR V., by Blipswitch at the Curtain Theatre

Blipswitch has thrown down a gauntlet for other contemporary dance groups to pick up in the coming post-Covid world. Welcome the light!

At the Curtain Theatre in far west forested Austin, Texas     The pandemic is dead, long live performance in live!   All the permutations and iterations of flickering streaming shows comprised but a single candle against the dark, a needed guide to light the way to our artistic return. The bold performers of Blipswitch have struck out into the light of day with their show Dear V,. Obeying the protocols, the dancers of …
