May. 02 - May. 03 (2015)
A new play by Barbara Blumenthal-Ehrlich, directed by Mark McCarver, playing July 24 - August 22, 2015.
For all characters: seeking actors with a strong emotional and dynamic range. This is an intimate space, so we are looking for a strong connection to the material, characters, and to the other actors, without going overboard or creating caricatures. The magical realism within the piece should not deceive you; these characters are grounded and gritty and deal with dire consequences and serious conflicts in honest ways.
Jen: Female, late 20’s - early 40's; Her strong will and mission to save her unborn child distracts her from her fate. But make no mistake, she has not come to terms with her own reality yet.
Sam: Male, late 40's - early 60's, Jen’s father. His hard-headedness has become a defense against showing Jen his pain and sorrow. His dedication to his white-collar work has become misguided over the years. Double cast as Cancer Tech
Tom: Male, late 20's - early 40's, Jen’s husband. Doing his best to hold it together, but failing miserably. Already feeling lost and alone. Double cast as Fetus Tech.
Romeo: Male, late 20's - early 50's, a qi-gong master. He seems aloof and odd, but has awareness beyond first glance. His past experiences have hardened his heart, opened the door to his alcoholism, and robbed him of his drive to help others.
Auditions are 1 -5 pm, Saturday, May 2 AND Sunday, May 3.
Please bring a headshot/resume and prepare a one minute monologue. You may be asked to do cold reads as well.
