Scheherazade
by Generic Ensemble Company
Oct. 30 (2016)
Scheherazade will examine orientalism, displacement, war, and Islamophobia in our contemporary age using 1001 Nights for inspiration. The show will run from 6/2/16-6/16/17 at The VORTEX. All collaborators will be part of creating the material.
The Generic Ensemble Company makes the invisible visible through bold, socially-conscious, body-centered theatre.
Auditions Sunday, October 30, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. by appointment
We seek a diverse representation of Middle Eastern national origins, ethnicities, and beliefs including but not limited to people of Arab, Azeri, Kurdish, Persian, and Turkish descent.
Bold, creatively-inclined, open-minded, hard-working people will thrive in this collaboration. Our rehearsal room is social-justice oriented with an anti-racist, open-ability and queer-positive ethos.
Some non-Middle Eastern actors will be cast and people of color are particularly encouraged to audition. No experience necessary, just a commitment to the process and willingness to learn.
To audition, please contact kt shorb, kt@genenco.org with a headshot and resume, if applicable, or simply with an email of interest and a picture of you. Auditions will consist of group exercises. Prepared monologues, songs, or dance excerpts are welcome but not required.
