African Folktales
by Renaissance Guild

Feb. 19 (2015)

The art of storytelling is an ancient and rich tradition throughout the continent of Africa. It was through these stories that beliefs, mythology, cultural identity, history and community values were passed down through generations and preserved. The Renaissance Guild will engage the imagnation as they bring to life some of the most loved traditional folktales, which celebrate the rich history of various African countries and the Americas, as well as explore how many of these stories are reimagined throughout history and other cultures.

Masks, colorful costumes, African dance and music will be an intricate part of the production in order to tell the stories effectively.
