He is best known for writing comic one-act plays, a reputation which resulted in the New York Times referring to him as the "maestro of the short form".^[1] Ives has also written dramatic plays, narrative stories, and screenplays.

Hutto Arts Today is excited to announce our first CASTING CALL for the new year! Auditions for "An Evening of David Ives One Acts" will be Wednesday, Jan. 6 and Thursday, Jan. 7 at the Hutto Performing Arts Center Lobby at Hutto High School from 6-7:30 p.m.

Seeking adults 18 and up. Message at the Facebook Page for additional information.

Auditioners may perform a monologue or read cold from sides.
