The roles:
Stella Meredith - (20’s) She is a warm friendly young lady, with a pleasant and welcoming manner, who loves her family’s house, Cliff End and often feels beckoned by it.
Pamela Fitzgerald – (20’s – 30’s) She is a bright and intelligent young woman, with a pleasant style and who is inclined to be both impulsive and enthusiastic. She shares a close relationship with her brother Roddy.
Roddy Fitzgerald - (20’s – 30’s) is Pamela’s older brother. He is a practical, intelligent young man and aspiring playwright, who use to be a literary critic.
Commander Brooke – (60’s) is Stella’s stern and protective grandfather. He is an elderly man, who carries a walking stick and yet has the air of a man going into battle. Although he has a cold business-like nature, as executive director of his grand-daughter’s estate, he is eager to sell Cliff End.
Lizzie Flynn – (40’s – 60’s) is Pam and Roddy’s middle-aged housekeeper, who is very loyal but superstitious. She is outspoken, terribly opinionated, capable and genuinely fond of Roddy and Pam.
Mrs. Jessup –(30’s – 60’s) is the gossipy neighbor of Pam and Roddy. She is inquisitive and alert country woman who wears a comical hat and who knows the back story behind the Stella’s mother Mary Meredith.
Wendy Carey – (30’s – 40’s) is a vivacious actress, who is superstitious and likes to read tarot cards and is eager to witness a spiritual manifestation.
Max Hilliard – (30’s – 40’s) is a painter and a friend of the Fitzgeralds. Although a pleasant friend to Roddy, he tends to be a little sarcastic and opinionated.
Dr. Scott – (40’s – 60’s) is a pleasant, local village doctor. He is a very likeable gentleman who makes friends easily.
Miss Holloway – (50’s – 60’s) is Stella’s former nurse and governess. She is a strong, cold stern woman with slightly sinister nature.
