I Wanna Be a F•cking Princess
by Ground Floor Theatre
Jan. 10 - Jan. 23
I Wanna Be A F*cking Princess is a fractured, fractious, high-octane fairy tale that examines and explodes the stories we’re told about how to be “Good Girls” and asks what it means to be Good Women and Good Friends. Bella and her four Bridesmaids are Southern Girls, with big personalities, bigger secrets…and opinions as strong as their cocktails.

Character Breakdown
RAPUNZEL/ZEL (any race/ethnicity) – The Bubbly One. Throws herself most fully into the "Princess" cliche. She's been sheltered to a point where she isn't prepared for ugly characters/terrible people when they target her. Perhaps she truly reads as our most fully "sorority girl" type.
LITTLE RED/RUBY (any race/ethnicity)- The Smart One. The least "femme" of the women, and that has been true her whole life. Even before she knows she's gay, she's clearest on the fact that there's not much place for her in these stories as they're usually told. She's from less money than the others; her relationship to the group is the most tenuous, but she's anchored to it by her feelings for Bella.
SNOW WHITE/NIEVE (Black) – The Beautiful One. Nieve is Black and Beautiful (but that does NOT mean she has to conform to some f*cked-up, anglo-centric idea of what Black Beauty looks like). She's someone whose Blackness and Beauty are undeniable and are something to which people REACT. She's been forced to spend energy navigating those reactions.
SLEEPING BEAUTY/BELLA (any race/ethnicity) – The Quiet One. Bella has the most obvious outward privilege of any of our characters and always has.
CINDERELLA/DRE (any race/ethnicity) – The Fierce One. Dre, like Bella, is from money. She's defined by the loss of her mother, and her terrible relationship to her stepmother.
Seeking actors age 35+ for all roles.
Performances will be May 8 – May 24, 2025, with rehearsals beginning in April. Exact rehearsal schedule will be determined by actor availability.
