When a bus driver takes an unexpected break, chaos ensues as an unlikely hero takes the wheel—none other than a feisty pigeon! This musical is based on the beloved books by Mo Willems. A production for schools and families.

ZACH Theatre in Austin is seeking actors of all ethnicities and gender identities for our upcoming production of Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical!. In-person auditions will be held on October 21st and on October 31, 2024 from 1:00pm-4:00pmat the Nowlin Rehearsal Studio at 1426 Toomey Road.

REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:

Rehearsals are Monday - Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm from January 27th - February 8th, 2025. Tech is February 11th -16th from 9 am - 5 pm. Performances for schools and families will begin in the Kleberg Theatre on February 18th, 2025 and take place Tuesdays through Sundays weekly with the final performance on May 18th, 2025. Weekend performances will be at 11 am and 2 pm. Weekday performances will be at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Actors should audition only if they will have daytime availability January - May of 2025.

SUBMISSION INFORMATION:

We are seeking non-AEA actors of all ethnicities, ages, and gender identities.

  • ●  Please prepare 16-32 bars of an up-tempo musical theater or pop song in the style of the show.

    • ○  Please bring marked sheet music for the accompanist.

    • ○  Please bring your book with you to the audition, in case the casting team wants to hear an

      additional song.

      Submission Deadline: October 20th, 2024, 5:00 pm CST.

      ROLES TO BE CAST:

      The Pigeon, Male-identifying: The snappy, sassy, and demanding bird who never gets what he wants, but that doesn’t mean he’ll ever stop trying. Vocal range: C3 - G4.

      The Bus Driver, Female-identifying: The bus driving professional who loves her work and, eventually, The Pigeon. Prides herself on being driven and ALWAYS on time. Vocal range: F3 - D5.

      Hot Dog Vendor/ Passenger: BusinessMan/ Backup Duckling 1/ Airplane Engine Track, Male-identifying: Vendor: a guy that just loves sharing hot dogs, but not with Pigeons! Passenger: A no nonsense man in a suit off to his new job. Vocal range: D3 - E4.

      2nd Pigeon/ The Duckling/ The Bus Engine/ The Bus/ Bus Driver's Mom/ Puppy, Female-identifying: Duckling: An adorable duckling who gets a hot dog by just asking politely. 2nd Pigeon: Twin to the Pigeon. The Bus Engine: Must be able to vocalize a variety of bus sounds. Vocal range: D4 - C5.

City Worker/ Passenger: Teenager/ Backup Duckling 2, Male-identifying: City Worker: A grumpy worker just doing his job putting up signs around town. Passenger Teenager: A kid who can’t wait to go see the latest superhero movie that’s opening RIGHT NOW. Vocal range: D3 - C5.

Passenger: Little Old Lady/ Backup Duckling 3, Female-identifying: Passenger: Little Old Lady: Very excited to go see her newborn grandchild at the hospital. Vocal range C4 - D5.

We are also looking for Non-AEA Understudies for this production.
