Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated "Bah! Humbug!" Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he's forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful "Happy Christmas" before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him.

ABOUT THE DIRECTORS
Aimee Kasprzyk served briefly as the producer and director of the Warehouse Children’s Company in the early ‘90’s. She was last seen as M’Lynn in the hit WLAC production of Steel Magnolias and has directed our highly praised The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and To Kill a Mockingbird on the WLAC stage, as well as Matilda the Musical, and ELF the Musical, our big year end shows the past two years. She is also proud to serve on the WLAC Board as Board President
Leigh White was assistant director on our smash hit Matilda the Musical and co-director of last year's ELF the Musical. She has also co-directed last year's and this year's YouthCo. productions of The White Snake and The Book of Everything, both going on to win a number of awards at the TNT Youth Conference.AUDITION INFO
Please prepare a musical theatre style song with digital accompaniment that highlights your range and skill (YouTube is a good source to find music without vocals). The song should be no longer than 1 minute. Your accompaniment music should not include vocal tracks (must be karaoke style)
* No a cappella (bring music to sing to).
* A cord to plug into phone or computer & speaker will be available.
* There will be a dance component. Please dress to move.
* Auditions will also consist of cold readings from the script.
CHARACTERS
Scrooge
A man who lost his father to creditors as a kid and has grown up heeding his father's advice to save his money. Until he realizes how terrible he's become, he is grumpy, unsympathetic man and has no time for anyone or anything.

Mr. Cratchit
A father and husband who cares deeply for his family, particularly his youngest son. He works hard to provide for them but is mistreated by his employer, Scrooge.

Tiny Tim's mother and Mr. Cratchit's wife. She is a loving mother who tries to provide the best for her children with what she's got.

Mr. and Mrs. Cratchit's youngest son. He is crippled and sick, but is the definition of loving Christmas spirit. He constantly reminds his family that as long as they all have each other, they will be happy.

Fred
Scrooge's nephew and only living relative. He is a pleasant young man who believes in the good a joyful Christmas spirit can make in the world.

A jovial, larger-than-life ghost who comes back to show Scrooge all the joy, love, and celebration he his missing out on while those around him celebrate Christmas. Actor doubles as Sandwichboard Man.

Ghost Of Christmas Past
An ever cheerful, sprightly ghost who comes back with the history book of Scrooge's past to show him the events that led to his current state. Actor doubles as Lamplighter.

A portly, jolly man who used to throw a huge Christmas party every year for the community. He was Scrooge's first boss and after teaching him all he knew, he became deeply disappointed in the man Scrooge became.

BEFORE THE AUDITION:
-- Double Check the performance schedule before you audition. It's disappointing to audition, get a part and then find that rehearsals interfere with classes or that you'll be out of town during the 2 weeks the play goes on. Rehearsals and performances occur weeknights and on weekends and generally begin within a week of being cast.
-- If possible, read the script and familiarize yourself with the characters. Knowing the characters will help you to decide for which part or parts to audition. Scripts can be borrowed from the theater.
AT THE AUDITION:
-- Be on time!
-- Wear clothes that are reasonable for the audition and are comfortable.
-- Fill out an Audition Sheet. If this is your first show, then great! Awesome to have you. If you have done shows before it helps to bring a list with you so you do not have to try to remember on the spot. If you have done a lot of shows, only list those that are most recent, biggest roles, and/or from similar styles of shows.
-- Be courteous and professional. Remember you never get a second chance to make a first impression, and your audition lasts from the minute you walk in the auditorium until the moment you leave.
-- Most auditions consist of "cold readings" from the scripts. That means you will be asked to read some of the dialogue from the show, sometimes with other people sometimes by yourself. Don't worry if you stumble over words, we're looking for energy and character choices.
-- Relax; auditions do not have to be a painful process. Give it your best shot and HAVE FUN!
