The Flick

In a run-down movie theater, three underpaid employees mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35mm film projectors in the state. Their tiny battles and not-so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lackluster, second-run movies on screen. With keen insight and a finely-tuned comic eye, The Flick is a hilarious and heartrending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

  • Sam: 35-year-old white male
    • He often wears a beat-up Red Sox cap
    • He used to be very into Heavy Metal
  • Avery: 20-year-old black male
    • Bespectacled, he wears red slightly European-looking sneakers
    • In love with the movies
  • Rose: 24-year-old white female
    • Sexually magnetic, despite the fact (or partly because?) her clothes are baggy, she never wears makeup, and her hair is dyed forest green
  • Skylar/The Dreaming Man: 26 years old
