It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play takes the beloved American holiday classic and brings it to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life on one fateful Christmas Eve.

 

The play is adapted by Joe Landry from the screenplay by Frances Goodrich, Albert Hackett, Frank Capra, and Jo Swerling.


The Hill Country Community Theatre (HCCT) invites you to embark on a magical journey to Bedford Falls with "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play," a heartwarming holiday classic that promises to capture the true spirit of Christmas. Directed by the talented Kärin Fraiser, this unique production will bring Frank Capra's iconic film to life as a live radio play with nostalgic sound effects and a talented cast.

 

Auditions for "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" will be held on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 10 am and Sunday, September 17th at 3 pm. HCCT welcomes aspiring actors and theater enthusiasts of all backgrounds and experience levels to audition to become part of this cherished holiday tradition.

 

This enchanting production is set to run on weekends from December 1st to December 17th, providing ample opportunities for families, friends, and theater enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the magic of the season.

 

Director Kärin Fraiser's creative vision promises to make "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" a truly unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages. Her expertise in the world of theater ensures that this production will capture the hearts of everyone who attends.

 

Actors interested in auditioning will be asked to read from the script and may be asked to read more than once with other actors. They will need to be able to create different-sounding voices for different characters. HCCT will also cast four women as studio singers for live commercial jingles. Freddie Filmore – An actor who works at, and is the announcer for, the radio station.He portrays several different characters.·

Harry “Jazzbo” Heywood – An actor who works for the radio station.He portrays several different characters.·

Ensemble Men – Will portray multiple characters·

Sally Applewhite – The actress portraying Young Mary/ Mary Bailey·

Lana Sherwood – An actress who works for the radio station.She portrays several different characters.·

Ensemble Women – Will portray multiple characters.·

Foley Operator – This person creates all of the live sound effects for the radio show, and is on stage.
