Auditions for a role in upcoming season with Opera San Antonio on May 27 through May 28.OPERA San Antonio will be holding auditions on May 27 and 28, 2023 to cast outreach artists for the 2023/24 season and members of the chorus for the spring production of The Pirates of Penzance.
Outreach artists will perform for a series of community concerts and outreach performances in schools and must have consistent daytime availability August 2023 - May 2024. If selected, artists will be responsible for fully preparing assigned repertoire independently prior to the beginning of performances. Additional rehearsal time may be required.
Auditions will take place at the Radius Center located at 106 Auditorium Cir, San Antonio, TX 78205. Sign up for an audition time here.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
All candidates should prepare and memorize two selections, one of which must be an aria; the remaining selection may come from another source, such as art song, oratorio, operetta, or musical theater. One of these must be in a language other than English.
Outreach candidates should prepare two operatic selections. Selections that are appropriate and entertaining for children ages K-12 are a plus.
An accompanist will be provided for you.
Please provide music in the appropriate key, either in a book or a binder. A recent photograph and resume to be presented at the time of the audition are also helpful. All materials must be submitted prior to your audition via this form.
HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Proof of a negative Covid-19 rapid test with results submitted 24 hours prior to your audition time is required.
Auditionees will be required to wear a mask at all times except during the audition. If selected as an artist, proof of Covid-19 vaccination will also be required.
