Godspell
by Mary Moody Northen Theatre
Oct. 28 - Nov. 07 (2022)
In this updated, jazzy version of the 1971 classic, a small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life. The first major musical from Grammy and Academy Award-Winner Stephen Schwartz, Godspell features a parade of beloved songs, including “Day by Day,” "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side."

MMNT is committed to non-traditional casting and values diversity in all of its forms. We greatly encourage actors of all ethnicities, gender identities, as well as performers with disabilities to audition. Looking for versatile performers who sing and dance.
Roles:
Judas - Jesus’ most ardent disciple and the doubter who begins to question and rebel. Like Jesus, this character is also charismatic, but in more of an overt revolutionary way. The most “serious” and intellectual of the group but does possess a good sense of physical comedy. Vocal Range: C4-E5
Telly - Not the brightest in the bunch and is a little slow on the uptake, but possesses a great sweetness and innocence. Seeking a strong singer to perform "All Good Gifts"
PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Please prepare the audition cut accompaniment of "All Good Gifts" available at https://stedwards.box.com/s/zktggczrulo0ggxolpdusovq3x940l9v
Videos should be shot in landscape framing and sent in a non-downloadable format – private YouTube link, Vimeo, etc.
