Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Radio Play is a heartwarming holiday classic retold in the tradition of a live 1940’s era radio broadcast. When a department store Santa claims he’s the real Kris Kringle, his case gets taken all the way to the Supreme Court. Watch the miracle unfold when the belief of a little girl makes all the difference in this iconic story. Adapted from the 1947 Lux Radio Hour Broadcast and staged with live Foley effects and a score of holiday carols, Miracle on 34th Street is a beloved musical that will melt even the most cynical of hearts
Auditions Extended for
Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play
Extended auditions for FTC’s Holiday Musical Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Radio Play will be held Monday and Tuesday, October 17th and 18th, at 6:30 p.m., at the Steve W. Shepherd Theater, located at 1668 Highway 87 South in Fredericksburg. The production will be directed by Steve Reily.
Actors are asked to sign up in advance by calling the theater office at 888-669-7114. For auditions, actors will need to prepare 32 bars of a show tune, or a verse and chorus. Please choose a song that best shows your vocal range and abilities. A CD player and MP3 hookup will be available. A keyboard and accompanist will also be present. No acapella auditions please.
There will be a brief movement audition, so please dress accordingly. Actors will also be asked to read scenes from the script. Actors should be versatile at creating a variety of different voices and characters. A young girl is needed to play the role of Susan. A mature male is needed to play the role of Kris Kringle. Kris Kringle does not have to sing. Scripts will be available to be checked out from the FTC Box Office.
Video auditions may also be submitted. All video auditions must be sent to Executive Director Steve Reily at steve@fredericksburgtheater.
Schedule:
Rehearsals are typically Monday through Friday, 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
December 5 - 8 are Technical/Dress Rehearsals. For the success of the production, attendance at these rehearsals and at all performances is mandatory for the entire cast and crew.
