The Paramount Theatre (Austin Theatre Alliance) is seeking a diverse group of actors, improvisers, singers, and movers to join the Paramount Story Wranglers, a TYA ensemble that takes the original writings of 3rd grade students and transforms them into a comedy/musical/variety show. The show is performed for the student writers and their school community to uplift and empower the voices of young people (Think SNL, but for the under-10 crowd).
2022-23 Season General Auditions for Paramount Story Wranglers
Pay: Non-Union. Base pay $250/week as a contractor. Additional stipends available for transportation as well as songwriting, choreography, Spanish bilingual performance and props.

When: Tuesday, October 11 and Thursday, October 13. Sessions are held from 6:30 pm - 8 pm and 8:15 pm - 9:45 pm.

Auditions consist of singing, movement and devising with a group. You do not need to prepare anything ahead of time. Dress to move and plan to stay for the entire session.A mandatory company workshop will be held on Sunday, October 23 at the State Theater for those who are cast (Time TBD).
Participants must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or results of a negative COVID-19 test no more than 48 hours prior to the audition. Proof of vaccination will be matched with your ID and can be shown via physical card, a photo of your card, or app (i.e. CLEAR Health Pass, Bindle.) Final vaccine must be dated at least 14 days prior to audition. Negative test must be dated with your full name matching your ID. That means we cannot accept self-administered, at-home tests.
Performers of color are highly encouraged to audition - we serve a diverse group of students and want that diversity represented in our ensembles. Ability to read, comprehend and speak fluently in Spanish is highly desirable but not required. We also welcome queer and gender nonconforming artists, performers in larger bodies and performers with disabilities.

*Engagement with the Austin Theatre Alliance is not contingent upon on COVID-19 vaccination status, however campus administration can mandate school program visitors to its campus be fully vaccinated based on their rules and regulations, therefore the Story Wranglers strives to be a fully vaccinated ensemble.
You are: reliable, a team player, fun, kind, & positive, and passionate about performance as a tool for social change. Songwriting, percussion, choreography, instruments or knowledge of Theatre of the Oppressed are a plus.
Content: Shows consist of approximately 6 original songs and 6 short plays, devised by a cast of 8-10 people.
Time Commitment: A completely new show is developed in the course of one week. There will be 15 performance opportunities between October and May. You may participate in as few or as many shows as you like, and will commit to one week of rehearsals per show.
Rehearsals are held in the evenings on Sunday through Thursday. You should expect to be in rehearsal up to 22.5 hours that week. The performance is on Friday afternoon. If you have a day job, you will need to make arrangements to be at the performance during the school day.
