Want to be a Resident Actor?

Our Resident Actors are part of The Public Theater of San Antonio Resident Artists – our community of creatives involved during the 2022–23 Season. This is a cohort of actors, assembled by our Executive Artistic Director through an audition and interview process, who will be seen on our stages, at our special events, and involved in our new programs and initiatives. — A season audition must be submitted by June 7 to be considered as a Resident Actor.

All rehearsals and performances will take place at Russell Hill Rogers Theater, 800 W Ashby Pl, San Antonio, TX 78212

THE PUBLIC THEATER OF SAN ANTONIO ENCOURAGES PARTICIPATION BY PERFORMERS OF ALL AGES, RACES, ETHNICITIES, ABILITIES AND GENDER IDENTITIES.

Prepared Materials Required

  • For consideration in musicals and plays with music: Unlisted YouTube video links* containing: 1 minute monologue and 1 minute song selection
    *Video should show performer from at least the waist up and be well lit with the angle of the camera directly at eye level. Please do not sing to the camera, but just to the right or left. Please keep in mind that this is a stage audition, and not a film audition.
    *Those interested in being cast in Merrily We Roll Along should ensure they select a song by Sondheim to audition with
  • If you do not have access to personal accompaniment, a one minute selection of any of the following may be used:
  • Dance call: A separate, virtual dance call will be held. 
  • For consideration in non-musicals only: Unlisted YouTube video links containing: 2 contrasting 1 minute monologues (Contemporary – 1980 or later)
    *Video should show performer from at least the waist up and be well lit with the angle of the camera directly at eye level. Please do not sing to the camera, but just to the right or left. Please keep in mind that this is a stage audition, and not a film audition.
  • No callbacks are scheduled at this time. Should callbacks be deemed necessary, individual invitations will be sent directly to the email address on file.
  • Accepting auditions for ages 5 and older – limited youth roles available. 
  • Please upload a color headshot and resume where requested. Resumes should include a current phone number and email address. Minors are required to provide a parent/guardian email and phone number on audition registration as well as resume. No correspondence will be made with a minor’s personal email.
  • Please be sure to include any and all musical instruments played and level of proficiency under Special Skills.
  • Please note: The Public Theater of San Antonio promotes a fully vaccinated workplace. All employees and contractors will be required to show proof of COVID 19 vaccination and may be required to undergo weekly testing.
