CASTING CALL in AUSTIN for Cat on a Crescent Moon, an original musical comedy farce, the second in a trilogy, by local playwright Dennis O'Donnell. Rehearsals begin March 23 at Hope Chapel (6701 Arroyo Seco). Rehearsals will generally be held each week on three weekday evenings and on Saturday morning.

Performances run May 1-3 in the evenings, with a matinee May 2 (four total performances).

Callbacks will be held Saturday, February 1 from 4:00-6:00pm. Final casting decisions will go out by the second week of February. Roles are unpaid, but provide the chance to work in a supportive environment.

Seeking actors for the following roles:

MANDY, female, age 18 – seeking singer willing to learn simple choreography

“All over the map” with her perceptions and conclusions, and can show wild swings between optimism and pessimism. She doesn't feel good about herself because what she really wants –to be a Mom—is something she fears will never happen. Underneath, Mandy is unsure that she matters.

ALEX, male, age 20-21, married to Mandy – seeking singer willing to learn simple choreography

Alex loves to serve. He writes songs and plays. Alex loves Mandy, and the one great desire of his heart is to see her happy. But he is actually very much his own person. Alex is generally easy-going, and is perpetually optimistic (to the great irritation of Mandy, at times).

CHARLIE, male, 18-22 – seeking singer willing to learn simple choreography

College student in engineering. Intelligent, bookish, nerdish. Fairly "flat" persona—not terribly expressive. Geeks out about technical things. No real appreciable acting or singing talents. In the dream scene, however, he is vibrant and dynamic and a capable performer.

PROFESSOR DINKERMUNCH, male, 50s-80s

Intelligent, concerned with others, likable, expressive, insightful, engaging, and eccentric. He walks with a cane. Playwright envisions him as the "classical academic"—Einstein, Dr. Marcos Brody (Raiders of the Lost Ark), CS Lewis (tweed, with a pipe).

Actors of all levels welcome. Also, this is a faith-based play, but actors of all beliefs are welcome. For more information about our organization, check out hopearts.org.
