A Christmas Carol - a live radio play
by Fredericksburg Theater Company (FTC)
Oct. 14 - Oct. 15 (2019)
Charles Dickens' holiday classic comes to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast, complete with holiday tunes, vintage commercials for fruitcake (extra-fancy), the magic of live sound effects, and musical underscoring. A handful of actors bring dozens of characters to the stage, as the familiar story unfolds: Three ghosts take Ebenezer Scrooge on a thrilling journey to teach him the true meaning of Christmas. A charming take on a family favorite that will leave no one saying "Bah Humbug!
Auditions for FTC’s holiday musical A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play will be held Monday and Tuesday, October 14th & 15th at 7:00 p.m., at the Steve W. Shepherd Theater, located at 1668 Highway 87 South in Fredericksburg.
For auditions you will need to prepare two minutes of an up-tempo show tune. A CD and MP3 player will be available. A keyboard will be available if you’d like to bring your own accompanist. No a capella auditions please.
There will be light movement auditions. We will also read scenes from the script. The ability to create vocal characterizations and tap dancing experience is a plus. Scripts are available to be checked out from the FTC Box Office starting Monday, September 16. If you have any questions, you can email the director Steve Reily at steve@fredericksburgtheater.org with the subject line “Christmas Auditions”.
