The Texas Chili Queens

The story of the Texas Chili Queens, a group of women who made a living selling chili to the crowd around the Alamo Plaza in San Antonio, is being told as a play for families by Pollyanna Theatre Company.
Allie is a fifth-grader who gets a school assignment for her elementary school’s Heritage Day. She goes back in time to learn about these female entrepreneurs who were ahead of their time.
“The Texas Chili Queens” is an original play by Kathleen Fletcher being developed by Pollyanna, and audiences will get a chance to give feedback to the creators. The show is ideal for kids in elementary school and middle school.
Pollyanna Theatre Company is hosting an open call audition for one anglo male actor and several Latina and Hispanic actresses for their upcoming production of THE TEXAS CHILI QUEENS which will be produced at the Rollins Studio Theatre at The Long Center November 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 2019.
This is a play for young audiences, therefore many of the performances are on weekday mornings. All weekend performances are at 2:00 p.m.
Rehearsals will be held at 2200 Berkley Dr, 78745 at Cunningham Elementary School on weekday evenings beginning October 7, 2019 . All actors are compensated.
All actors interested in auditioning, please email pollytheatre@gmail.com and request an audition time. Auditions are open for scheduling until September 30.. Please prepare a 3-minute monologue. Your selection does not need to be from a play for children.
