These are Tricentennial pieces at the Witte Museum, San Antonio, for 2018. 

Gallery Theater exists with the specific purpose of furthering the educational mission of the institution. Most productions are between 12-15 minutes long. Gallery Theater actors perform in and rehearse several shows at a time, and present shows 2-4 times a day and are compensated at $10/hr. Monologues are the most common format. Actors may also perform demonstrations and other kinds of presentations. Actors are in close contact with their audiences, addressing, interacting with, and visiting with them after the performance. Actors often conduct post-show conversations and are expected to be knowledgeable not only about the content of the museum theater piece, but of the exhibit it enhances.

  • JOSE ANTONIO NAVARRO, 1838, Run Dates -November 1-December 31: A Moment Between Wars: based on the historic Texas patriot of the same name, a Hispanic man in his 30's-40's
 
  • JOSE FRANCISCO RUIZ, 1838, Run Dates -November 1-December 31: A Moment Between Wars: based on the historic Texas patriot of the same name, a Hispanic man in his 40's-50's
 
 
  • JOVITA, La Chili Queen y El Serrano, Run Dates - April 27-May 31; October 1-31:a Hispanic woman in her 20's-30's

Please email a headshot and resume to christinacate@wittemuseum.org to schedule an audition appointment on February 24, 2018. 
 
  • Unscheduled audition appointments will not be seen
  • If you are unable to audition on February 24, please specify alternative audition availability in your submission
  • Please prepare an interactive, one minute comedic monologue
  • If auditioning for EMANCIPATION JONES, please prepare a 16-bar acapella piece (experienced and non-experienced singers encouraged to audition)
  • Availability for actors include day, evening, and weekend hours
  • Hours are part-time and flexible
