On January 27th in 1972, The Queen of Gospel, Mahalia Jackson, ascended Home to Glory. Honor her legacy by coming to experience the highly-acclaimed original play, FOR THE LOVE OF MAHALIA.

FOR THE LOVE OF MAHALIA tells the story of the life and social justice influence of gospel-legend, Mahalia Jackson. 

This hand-clapping stage production features some of Mahalia Jackson's greatest hits like "How I Got Over", "Precious Lord Take My Hand", "Didn't It Rain" and many more! 

FOR THE LOVE OF MAHALIA received nominations from BroadwayWorld.comand Austin Entertainment Weekly's Central Texas Excellence in Theatre Awards for "Best Writing of an Original Work" in it's workshop production.

First booking for this amazing new musical Written By: Robert King Jr. is set for February 2018 with other dates throughout the year TBD.

 We are currently casting to replace the following roles: 
 
Lilly Mathews ( age 40's to 50's) -  (Caucasian actress needed for role) Julies racist mother who is trying to hide Julies past from her. 
 
Ruth ( age 20's to 30's ) - African American actress who sings needed for this role. Ruth is the maid in the Mathew's household who has been holding a deep secret for the past 20 years. 
 
Bessie/ Ensemble- Seeking African American actress to portray Blues legend Bessie Smith and double as a member of the ensemble 
 
Martin Luther King Jr.- African American Civil rights leader and activist 
 
Coretta Scott King-  Martin Luther King Jr.'s wife and backbone during the civil rights movement 
 
Ralph Albernathy - Martin Luther King's best friend who assisted him with the civil rights movement 
 
Casting extra African American Males & Females to be apart of the ensemble!
 
Stipend for all roles, meals and lodging will be provided.
