Annabelle Broom, The Unhappy Witch

Annabelle Broom is a non-conformist witch who would rather help than hinder. She ends up clashing with her tough witch superiors over her unconventional beliefs and nearly loses her haunting card when she decides to help instead of frighten two lost children.


The Palace Theatre in Georgetown, TX, is seeking non-union actors for their TYA production of Annabelle Broom, the Unhappy Witch.  All roles are PAID.  All actors will receive a non-union weekly salary for four weeks. Seeking all roles (5 women, 1 boy, 1 girl):

 

Auditions by appointment Monday and Tuesday September 18 and 19. from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.  Please prepare a monologue (1 minute comedic) and 32-bar audition piece. Accompanist provided. Acting and dance call-backs held Wednesday, 9/20 from 11:00 am -1:00 pm.

Character Breakdown:

Seeking all roles (5 women, 1 boy, 1 girl):

Annabelle (G3-C5):A brooding and unhappy but ultimately friendly witch who cares about fashion. Goes against the grain. Dislikes the dark.

Esther (E5-Ab3): One of the witches. She is a small, toothy woman who is easily startled.

Lydia (F5-A3): One of the witches. A sharp, quick woman whose gestures and stalk are alarmingly feline.

Mabel (F5-Ab3): One of the witches. A large, authoritative, and slightly egotistical woman who never forgets.

Maud (E5-Ab3): One of the witches. Worries a lot. A little slow.

Judy (A5-G3): A well-groomed, happy, delightful little girl. Peter's younger sister. Looking to cast age 9-13.

Peter: (F5-G3): An inquisitive boy. Judy's older brother.  Looking to cast age 10-14.

 

Rehearsals at the Palace (no conflicts starting 10/10):

Monday – Thursday, October 2 – 5, 10:00 – 4:00

Saturday, October 7, time TBD

Tuesday – Friday, October 10 – 13, from 10:00 – 4:00

Saturday, October 14 from 9:00 – 1:00 (tech)

Monday, October 15 from 10:00 – 4:00 (dress/tech).

 

Performances Tuesday – Friday, October 17 - 20 and Tuesday – Friday, October 24 – 27 at 9:30 am and 12:30 pm for schools (performed at the Palace) and Saturday, October 28 at 10:00 am (general public).

 

Background checks: Everyone involved with the production must submit to a background check at the Palace's expense. Parents: if you are dropping off a child younger than 16 you will be asked to submit.  If you are cast, you'll receive a secure link where you can fill it out. There is no cost to you.
