CASTING NOTES

  • The role of God will be played by John Stillwaggon 
  • Casting of the Angels is completely flexible in regards to gender, age, and race.
  • The roles will be cast based on comedic timing, acting flexibility, and a willingness to have fun!

CHARACTERS

  • The Angel Gabriel - The "script supervisor" who stands at a podium with the Gutenberg Bible, drawing a balance between keeping God on track, reminiscing with the Omniscient, and dodging His wrath.
  • The Angel Michael - A loyal servant, but also a bit rebellious, Michael wanders the audience with a microphone, challenging God with tough queries, mysteriously drawn from the backs of the minds of theatre patrons.

AUDITION INFORMATION

  • Prepare a comedic monologue, not to exceed one minute in length.
  • Review the rehearsal and performance schedule below. 
  • Email The Vex to request an audition appointment and for further instructions.
  • ALL ROLES ARE CAST AS VOLUNTEER POSITIONS.​

REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE INFORMATION

Rehearsals

  • Regular rehearsals will begin in late September, with a few meetings and read-throughs scheduled before that time.
  • A typical Vex rehearsal schedule is Monday through Thursday, 7pm to 10pm. Friday and weekend rehearsals are scheduled as needed throughout the rehearsal period.
  • The final two weeks and weekends of rehearsals include technical and dress rehearsals with the full company called.

Performances

  • Show Dates: October 19 through November 12, 2017
  • Performance Times: Thursdays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2:30pm. Tentative evening performance on one Sunday.
  • Call time is one hour before curtain.


Location

  • The Sheldon Vexler Theatre is located at 12500 N.W. Military Highway (78231) at Wurzbach Parkway in the Campus of the San Antonio Jewish Community. The Vex is located on the lower level of the building. Follow posted signs to the theater.
