Hilariously funny and touchingly honest, Urinetown provides a fresh perspective on one of America's greatest art forms.
In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he's had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom!
Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, Urinetown is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be, Urinetowncatapults the "comedic romp" into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter.
The 1950s are out, and change is in the air! Hairspray, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs.
It's 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire – to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Show." When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network... all without denting her 'do!

DANCE CALL (for those that auditioned) will be 6:30PM at The Playhouse SA on March 8th. Be prepared and dressed for dance/movement. Potential CALL BACKS (if needed) will be on March 8th at 8:30 PM.

Please sign up for one FIVE MINUTE audition slot on Mar 6 or 7. Each slot is specifically tied to an individual email address. In order to CHANGE your audition time, simply sign up for a new slot using the same email address and the prior time will be removed. In order to REMOVE yourself altogether, please email info@theplayhousesa.org.
- Please prepare TWO, 30-second, contemporary vocal selections.
- Provide the sheet music
- NO cd or acapella permitted.
- Please prepare ONE, 1-minute contemporary monologue.
- Provide one 8x10 headshot and resume.

Rehearsals for Urinetown are expected to be Sunday to Thursday evenings from 6:30 PM to 10 PM and to begin March 26th.
The show runs May 5 - 28.
