Richard III
Sep. 28 - Sep. 30, 2016
Wednesday, Friday-Saturday
Richard III, one of Shakespeare's most notoriously crooked villains, murders and marries his way to the English throne. Once he has achieved his dream, he finds that, as his predecessor Henry IV said in another of Shakespeare's histories, "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown." Richard is haunted by the ghosts of his former victims as he fights to maintain the power for which he has sacrificed so much. Just five actors, whose impressive credits include performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, and the Bristol Old Vic, play multiple roles in a production that utilizes simple costumes and minimal scenery, with an emphasis on the riches of Shakespeare's language. |
