From the Pig Pile: the Requisite Gesture(s) of Narrow Approach
by Salvage Vanguard Theater
Apr. 03 - Apr. 19, 2014
An interactive journey across a vast landscape of associate histories, FROM THE PIG PILE features original music, puppetry, dancing, marauding, a Yeahoh sighting, and enough champagne for everyone. For three (hundred thousand) years now, we of the Pig Pile have squirmed, squealed and de-structed our way across a vast landscape of associative histories. At times, they morph together into a narrative structure, and at others, they elude us completely. There is no panacea for feral swine work. The closer we get to the complicated porcine truth of what it means to be human, the more our numbers have dwindled, and we are now on the brink of extinction. Only you can help us to piece these pieces together, before it’s too late.
Note: If you have any wooden items that you wish to be preserved for all eternity, you may please to bring them with you to the occasion.
The Austin Pig Pile is the nickname for the three-year collaboration of Austin artists and theater companies coming together for the Full Stage USA - Austin project created and sponsored by New Dramatists in NYC with funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, National Performance Network, City of Austin Cultural Arts Division, and the Texas Commission on the Arts. In collaboration with Austin Scriptworks, Fusebox Festival, Physical Plant, Rude Mechs, Rubber Repertory, and Salvage Vanguard Theater.
