EXIT is a play by Debbie Gerstein and Heather Rossabout believing that things can be different. It shares our stories of verbal, emotional, psychological, physical or sexual abuse. Almost everyone has a story or knows someone who does. This play allows for humanity to hear the complete story—the person before the violence or abuse, the struggle to hold on to hope, claiming one’s own personal power, the process of healing and moving forward. Sharing the story brings it out from the shadows and into the light.
Sharing stories heals wounds, connects us to ourselves and to each other. Stories invite us into the lives of the people who share them and reveal that which has been invisible or unspoken. The play is a creation and collective story telling of a large, composite story and is not a retelling of collected stories.
