Cyrano de Bergerac- Arguably one of the greatest plays ever written, French playwright Edmund Rostand weaves the tale of Cyrano de Bergerac. Cyrano, a contemporary of the Three Musketeers is a man of many talents; swordsman, poet, musician, and playwright, but his ability to excel at love is thwarted by his hideous and extremely large nose. His quest to woo and win the love of the beautiful Roxanne is realized somewhat vicariously when he becomes the ghost writer for the handsome but intellectually inept Christian. Rostand's play is humorous, romantic, has sword duels, and stages a large battle between the French army and the Spanish. The play is the consummate metaphor of unrequited love."
