Assassins

Apr. 03 - Apr. 20, 2014
As Americans, we've been told we've got the right to be happy, that we've got the right to our dreams.
What happens, though, when we don't get them? Who is to blame? Who do we hold responsible? How do we reconcile the limitless possibility of the American Dream with the absolutely limited realities of America?
Assassins imagines a group of men and women who all answered these questions the same way: by trying to shoot the President of the United States.
Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins asks us to consider the lives and motivations of these nine men and women. Their actions profoundly affected the way we think as a country, how we understand the presidency and our relationship towards it. Originally premiering off-Broadway in 1990, Assassins was successfully revived in 2004 by Playwrights Horizons, winning 5 Tony awards, including Best Revival of a Musical.
