Through laughter, tears, and unwavering friendship, these women show what it truly means to be resilient in the face of life's challenges. Heartfelt and deeply moving, this play remains an enduring celebration of love and community.

Harling's timeless story of six unforgettable women comes to life on stage just in time for Mother's Day, and tickets are selling fast. Audiences who fell in love with the iconic 1989 film will find everything they adore: the laughter, the heartbreak, the friendships, and the legendary Truvy's Beauty Salon, brought to vivid life by a live cast in the intimate setting of Classic Theatre. There is nothing quite like experiencing these women on stage, in the room, in real time.

This production stars Christi Eanes, Corina Davis, Anna Gangai, Melissa Gonzales, Amiyah Oney, and Mary Lantz in the roles made famous on screen by Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Daryl Hannah, and Julia Roberts.


Director Melissa Utley adds, “At its heart, this production is a celebration of female friendship. The kind that’s complex and resilient and a little quirky, but also deeply life-sustaining.” She continues, “In a world that’s carried so much isolation and heaviness in recent years, Steel Magnolias feels like a return to something we all really need, which is connection. What I love most about this story is how these women show up for each other through everything. There’s grief and joy and frustration and so much laughter, often all at the same time. It’s honest and messy in the best possible way.”

π— π—˜π—Ÿπ—œπ—¦π—¦π—” π—¨π—§π—Ÿπ—˜π—¬ (Director) is thrilled to be returning to the Classic Theatre for Steel Magnolias. She holds an M.F.A. in Directing from Texas State University, has studied with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theater in London. After thirteen years in educational theatre, including teaching acting and directing at Texas State, she now freelances in San Antonio as a writer and director. Previous Classic Theatre directorial credits include ANN and The Little Foxes (ATAC Globe Award for Direction). Melissa’s passion is storytelling in most any form, and she hopes to tell many, many more.
