Nuestras Voces
by Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center

Sep. 20
Saturday

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center will presents Nuestras Voces: Stories of Resilience, an original multidisciplinary production highlighting the stories of influential Mexican American figures, featuring the Guadalupe Dance Company and musicians of Mariachi Azteca de América.

Nuestras Voces beautifully interweaves dance, music and video empowering audiences with a sense of pride and hope through the universal story of resilience. The culturally significant dance production sheds light on the impact of Mexican American leaders Lydia Mendoza, Emma Tenayuca, Americo Paredes, Willie Velasquez and Jovita Idar whose contributions and leadership paved the way for change.

Over its 34 years, the Guadalupe Dance Company has made it a priority to amplify the Mexican American voice within its vast repertoire of original work. Fusing traditional Folklórico dance with contemporary themes and movement, Nuestras Voces takes audiences on a journey of enlightenment and empowerment prompting discourse that reflects on American history and embraces the forgotten Mexican American pioneers that contributed to the fabric of our country.
