Please join us for a public reading and discussion of Glass, a new play by Azure Osborne-Lee on Saturday, June 14 at 3pm.
"I'm overjoyed to be workshopping this new origin story for the stage in the city where I got my start in life and in professional theatre. Austin has always felt like home to me, and now I can share that feeling of homecoming with others."
–Azure D. Osborne-Lee
The reading features an all-star cast: Jeffrey Da’Shade Johnson, Sigh, Nicole Boyd, Anderson, Dane Parker, Allegra Jade Fox, Oktavea LaToi, Florinda Bryant, Keyshaan Castle, Christopher Michael, Hayley Armstrong, and Blaise Ricin. Understudy: Chelsea Manaserri. Directed by Bonnie Cullum.
The VORTEX will produce the world premiere of Glass in 2027. Azure Osborne-Lee joins Austin artists for this workshop. Now based in New York City, Osborne-Lee is an Austin native, with an MA in Women’s & Gender Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. This reading provides a vital step in new play development and a rare opportunity to experience the play early in its journey toward our full production.
This event is part of The Lighthouse, a VORTEX initiative designed to provide learning opportunities for company artists to train, share skills, and create collaboratively. This reading is not only a moment of artistic discovery, but also an invitation—to collaborate, to imagine, and to invest in the future of this powerful new work.
