"Bluebonnet Road" is a one-hour (or less) musical set in the Austin, Texas area. The year is 1979. Olive Trundle's older son, Noah, a moderately successful local singer/songwriter, drags Olive, her younger son, Jo Jo, an up and coming singer/songwriter, and Jo Jo's girlfriend, Misty Strand, on an adventure to spread the ashes of Olive's father on the farm where Olive grew up. The problem is that the river has been dammed for years and they don't know if they can find the farm. When they get to an island in the river where they think the farm might be flash floods leave them stranded to leave them all alone together to bond or air their differences.
