"Accidental Book Reviews for Future Robots" is a song cycle written and performed by the human Michael Ferstenfeld in between bouts of consuming a great many works of science-fiction and alternate-history during a time of great loss and upheaval (2019-2029).
Each piece began as improvised lyrical free association (gibberish) over some guitar chord forms new to the composer at the time. But then through much repetition and refinement, those gibberish noises evolved into actual words and sentences, and eventually those words turned out to be perhaps-not-so-subtly influenced by the tropes and themes and character arcs that were being consumed at the time.
Finally verses, choruses, and maybe even a bridge or two congealed into new stories & scenes with the accidental book reviews concealed & embedded in the text. I mean, I dunno, maybe this is just how all music works, no one can say for sure, the first quarter of the 21st century was a weird time! Anyway, here is a list of books and authors that may indeed have sparked some of these lyrics:
Psalm for the Wild Built, A Closed and Common Orbit
(Becky Chambers)
(Becky Chambers)
The Left Hand of Darkness, City of Illusions
(Ursula K. Le Guin)
