Tartuffe by French classic playwright Molière is a satire on religion, a mystery story about a master criminal, a drama about a dysfunctional family, a romance, and a plea for common sense and reason. Tartuffe is also one of the best-loved and most performed comedies in literary history.

Tartuffe is a sanctimonious scoundrel who, professing extreme piety, is taken into the household of Orgon, a wealthy man. Under the guise of ministering to the family’s spiritual and moral needs, he almost destroys Orgon’s family. But Elmire, Orgon’s wife, sees through Tartuffe’s wicked hypocrisy.
