Hungry Teenage Track Stars tells the story of a teenage girl’s cross country team as they get ready for their biggest meet of the year. The stakes have never been higher, and the girls grapple with this pressure as they attempt to run the best race of their lives. Noses are broken, boundaries are crossed, and the girls fight to do what must be done to win. But will they be able to come out of the experience with their souls unscathed? Or will the expectations be too much for them to handle?

Five young teenage girls on the night of, and day after, the biggest high school race of their lives: Hungry Teenage Track Stars, written by Annika Levken and directed by Mollly Fonseca, uses a feminist narrative approach to explore the complicatedrelationships young female runners have with their bodies, sexuality, and each other. Hyde Park Theatre is thrilled to host this premiere.

“And, I don’t know, I didn’t want to hear my parents fighting all of the time. I felt like, when I was home, I took up so much space in their house. Like the fights were too much, the lawyers were too much, the tears were too much, I was too much. I just wanted to disappear. Sometimes I still feel like that. Like I’m taking up too much space, too much attention. And I don’t. I don’t know what to do with that. But that’s not strength.”
