A ritual performance by Eva Margarita.
Obituary is an invitation to grieve. This performance ventures to unveil the layers of loss that, when unearthed, refuse to be forgotten. As a means of mounting experiences, audience members are invited to participate in the creation of Obituary by sharing what they have been mourning; the loss of lives, time, and/or sense of normalcy.
Using activated charcoal as a means of writing with and staining the body, Eva Margarita aims to recognize porousness as an agent for reinvention. Acknowledging the “beginning” and the “end” are not necessarily set, we must ask, what happens when we stitch together nonlinear grief and gather to walk with our own ghosts?
Join us as we welcome Eva Margarita to The VORTEX to narrate the poetry of grief in Obituary, a post-colonial new ritual performance. One performance only! Activated Charcoal connects the audience to ancestral grief as we connect our energy with the earth.
