Saturday, August 17
3:00 p.m. Megan Tabaque’s TWO SWEATY is a rambunctious ride of unexpected friendship unfolding between two women in an urban boutique cycling studio. Their simple journey of self-care and empowerment leaves the rails and goes from self-actualization to revenge and murder. Read by Olivia Jimenez, Cassandra Reveles, Heidi Penix, and Kayleigh Axtell.
8:00 p.m. Travis Tate’s SENECA follows the story of Seneca Village, a town of freed slaves and immigrants in the mid 1800s, that once stood, where now modern day Central Park stands. Shifting between the past and present, the play explores blackness, freedom, and the ever-rising gentrification within many American cities. Read by Hayley Armstrong, Crystal Bird, Nate Dunaway, Hollis Lapree Edwards, Ashley Nicole Hazzard, Delanté Keys, Nicholas Kier, Matrex Kilgore, Khali McDuff-Sykes, and Ammon Taylor.
Sunday, August 18
3:00 p.m. Raul Garza’s RUBY incorporates science, love, and magical realism in this poetic journey through realms of art, science, and the natural world. The play calls into question the benefits of technology to attempt to heal the sick and advance medicine. Read by Yesenia Garcia Herrington, Cassandra Reveles, Olivia Jimenez, Judd Farris, Carlo Lorenzo Garcia, and Kayleigh Axtell.
8:00 p.m. Allison Gregory’s LULU IN ROCHESTER is a vivid revival of events surrounding silent film star Louise Brooks’ temporary emergence from obscurity in the fifties at the urging of film curator James Card. The play’s riveting repartee between Lulu and Card captures Brooks’ outrageous charm and offers a glimpse into her resilience and intelligence. Read by Laura Freeman, Delanté Keys, and Kayleigh Axtell.
