In August of 2005, Catholic Relief Services sent a team of five writers and actors to the Arizona-Mexico border to investigate the immigration crisis. They met with and spoke to people with diverse interests and perspectives who were all trying to grapple with the urgent and volatile issues. THE LINE IN THE SAND was crafted from those contending voices, compiled from taped interviews and transcripts. The play illustrates the complex struggle, the tension and the heartache that surrounds a real place.
