Hosted and directed by Tim Hedgepeth, the awards were handed out at the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre.
Designers Jodi Karjala and Tim Francis received the Jasmina Wellinghoff Award for their contributions to the theater scene. In a warm and funny speech, they both noted that they are more comfortable out of the spotlight.
The People’s Choice Award, which was voted on by the audience, went to the Woodlawn Theatre’s staging of “Sister Act.”
The big winners of the night were the Sheldon Vexler Theatre’s staging of “Peter and the Starcatcher,” which received 11; and the Woodlawn Theatre’s productions of “Shrek” and “Sweeney Todd,” which received 10 and eight, respectively.
