Our Vision
Our production celebrates the Bohemian lifestyle, with all the passion, romance, and heartache that nourish the artistic soul. One of the strengths of La Bohème is that it demonstrates the importance of friendship and the families that you choose, coming together through the good times and the bad.
"In a world where females are often pitted against one another as rivals and queer relationships are still taboo and marginalized, this production is a chance to show audiences something different. We get to celebrate women, genders outside the standard dichotomy, and how families of choice can become just as strong as blood ties. These characters and their stories are timeless; and though we are presenting them in a new way, everyone can identify with falling in love for the first time, the frustrations of an unfaithful lover, the agony of losing a loved one, and the great joy of living life to the fullest." - Rebecca Herman, Stage Director of La Femme Bohème
Other Ways You Can Help
We understand that not everyone is in a position to donate financially. You can still help us reach our goal by spreading the word.
Since 2014, LOLA has raised over $35,000, produced two chamber operas, reached 900+ audience members, and was able to donate $300 each to Safe Place, the domestic violence shelter and to the Veteran's Guitar Project. This has all been made possible by the generous support of our incredible partners and contributors. Make your donation today and join our team! We very much appreciate your commitment to LOLA, the Austin community, and to the arts.
Thank you for being our partners in supporting local opera!
