Texas Matching Grant of $20,000 to Wimberley Players for Cultural District

Texas Commission on the Arts Cultural District Grant to the Players

A new public garden in front of the Playhouse. A stone walkway and benches. A small stage for musicians during arts festivals and special Players events. And more...

Fresh paint for the theater exterior and lobby, plus new lobby carpet. Signage on the east face of the building, visible from the medical center parking lot next door and FM 3237.

That's what the Players' December 8 grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA), will make possible.

The grant of $20,000 requires a 50-50 cash match toward the $40,000 project cost (in-kind donations not applicable). Please consider sending a year-end, tax deductible contribution to Wimberley Players, Grant Match, 450 Old Kyle Rd., Wimberley, TX 78676.

As a TCA grantee, our goal is to enhance the district, as well as the Playhouse, with these capital improvements-making Wimberley ever more attractive to cultural tourists and local residents alike. To promote the arts and to bring visitor dollars into the community are the objectives of the Cultural District Arts Respond grant program, just allocated by Texas legislators for the biennium. The Players grant is part of the first wave of allocations from the new appropriation for the arts.
