Magik Theatre End-of-Fiscal-Year Funding Appeal and 2016-2017 Season

The Magik Theatre's exciting new season is about to start! We can't wait to welcome you to our season opener, Duck for President. This musical tale of an ambitious duck is based on the best-selling book and is a sequel to the gang buster hit, Click, Clack, Moo. We promise it'll be the most fun you ever had learning about the democratic process and a spectacular start to our 2016-2017 season!

However, we are experiencing an end-of-season budget shortfall. In order to start the season strong and continue serving children of all abilities and economic circumstances, Magik needs to raise $20,000 by the end of our fiscal year on September 30th. We have ten days left -- will you help us close the gap?

From our literacy-based programming, to our Magikal production values, to our mission of accessibility -- your gift ensures we can continue making stories come to life for children all over the area. No amount is too small! If everyone reading this gives $5 we'll more than reach our goal.

Help us bring a new season of stories to life by donating today!

Gratefully,

Illustrated by Betsy Lewin
Adapted by James E. Grote

'Twas the Night Before Christmas
November 18-December 30
By Ken Ludwig

Roxaboxen
January 13-February 19
By Alice McLerran, adapted by Richard Rosen

To most people, Roxaboxen was just a hill with stones, some wooden boxes, and lots of cactus. But to eight children it was a magical town of their own making - "a place that really was, and, once you've been there, always is." Magik Founder Emeritus Richard Rosen and new Managing Artistic Director Frances Limoncelli pair up to bring this heartwarming tale to life again on the Magik stage.
The Three Javelinas
March 3-April 9
Based on the books by Susan Howell, illustrated by Jim Harris
Book and lyrics by Jenny Millinger, music by Todd Hulet

This take on "The Three Little Pigs" is set in the southwest among the tumbleweeds and ocotillo, as brother and sister javelinas try to outwit a coyote and end up learning what it means to be a family.
The Emperor's New Threads
April 21-June 3
Based on the story by Hans Christian Anderson
Adapted by Frances Limoncelli
Music and lyrics by George Howe

A groovy '60s take on the famous tale! The Emperor is beloved as a chic trendsetter, but his ridiculous fashion tax is bankrupting the country. Determined to be a hero, one young girl travels to the royal palace to confront the superficial ruler and teach him a lesson about what really matters. But she is soon faced with a decision: should she save "His Royal Groovyness" from a world of embarrassment?
Junie B. Jones, the Musical
June 17-August 13
Based on the books by Barbara Parks
Book and lyrics by Mary Heisler, music by Zina Goldrich

It's time for first grade, and Junie B. can't wait to see all her friends! But over the summer old friends have drifted away, and new ones have moved in. Junie B. soon learns that things don't always stay the same, and that doesn't have to be a bad thing.
