Georgetown Palace Executive Director Departs; Arden Treviño Appointed as Interim Executive Director

(www.georgetownpalace.com)The Georgetown Palace Theatre has regretfully accepted the resignation of Marissa Austin as Executive Director effective September 6, 2016. Austin leaves the Palace to serve as Executive Director for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Williamson County.

Austin, the first Executive Director in Palace history, has led the Palace for three and a half years. Under her leadership the organization has strengthened its reach and impact in the community, welcoming more than 38,000 patrons to Palace shows and serving over 6,500 children in the education programs annually. Austin also led the way during the Palace’s continued Envision Campaign to build a new children’s theatre and performance center, bringing in over $2 million for the project.

Of the Palace staff and volunteers Austin states, “I have been humbled to serve such an incredible organization in such an incredible community. I am tremendously proud of the significant accomplishments the Palace has made over the past three and a half years. I am grateful to the Board of Directors for their inspired leadership. The Palace has become, and will always be, a place that I call home and I know in a few years, when she is old enough, my daughter will as well.”

Board President Art Rodriguez conveyed, “Marissa has been an important part of the Palace for 3 ½ years. Her strength, leadership, and attitude will be sorely missed.  She has left a positive indelible mark on our organization.  Since becoming Board President, I have worked closely with Marissa and will deeply miss her.  Her service to the Palace has been remarkable.”

The Palace also announces that Immediate Past President of the Palace Board of Directors, Arden Treviño, will be serving as Interim Executive Director. Rodriguez affirms, “It is with great pleasure that I announce that Arden Treviño will be the Palace’s Interim Executive Director until a permanent Executive Director is engaged. Arden’s job will be to provide leadership and continue our capital campaign while we continue the process of funding a children’s theatre and performance center, Smith Performance Center.”   Excited about the opportunity, Treviño states, “I have worked with the Palace in many capacities for close to 20 years.  Marissa will be missed, but I look forward to continuing her work until a replacement is appointed.  We have the same goal:  bringing the enormous benefits of the Palace to the families of the Georgetown and Central Texas community.”  The Palace will conduct a nationwide search to find the best qualified Executive Director for the organization.
