Pay $183.33 plus free housing & utilities for 12 weeks

 

Fredericksburg Theatre Company is seeking an intern specializing in COSTUMES for the summer of our 2015-2016 season. FTC offers a well-rounded internship covering all technical and administrative theatre specialties, allowing eager young individuals to expand and grow in various directions while gaining practical hands-on knowledge of specific interests. 

 

Primary duties are to assist in the creation of all costume elements under the direction of the Costume Shop Manager and, secondarily, the Technical Director. This offers the opportunity to help in bringing all designs to realizations in the areas of costumes, props, set, lighting, sound and audio-visual.

 

Regular working hours are M-F, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. During production working hours may vary depending upon the current production’s need. Technical interns will play major parts in some of the full-stage productions including wardrobe crew, deck crew, follow-spot operator, light operator and sound operator. FTC interns work with numerous designers, directors and actors for three of our productions:

 

 

Evita (June 19 - July 5)

 

Annie, Jr. (July 30 - August 2)

 

Greater Tuna (August 13 - August 23)

 

Interns will gain hands-on experience working in FTC’s costume shop.

 

Desired Skills:

 

• Experience sewing is MANDATORY and is a primary duty of the internship
• Experience working on or heading a wardrobe crew is a plus
• Experience with pattern-making/draping is a plus
• A secondary knowledge and desire to learn more in other areas of technical production
• Ability to work individually and as part of a team
• Ability to think creatively to solve problems
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Ability to work a changing schedule over extended periods of time
