Black and Latino Playwrights Conference 2016 at Texas State University, September 12 - 17, 2016

Texas State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance is hosting the 15th annual Black and Latino Playwrights Conference September 12 – 17, 2016.

 

After a nationwide call for scripts, two plays have been selected for work-shopping and staged readings. Join us for these new play readings and a tribute to our distinguished guest, Golden Globe winner Regina Taylor. 

 

The tribute to Ms. Taylor will take place on September 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Concert Hall. The event is open to the public and free for all who attend.

The Ten-Minute Play Writing Workshop with Judy Tate will take play on September 17 from 12 – 4 p.m. in room 210 of the Theatre Center. Tickets to the workshop are $10 online or $15 at the door and may be purchased at txstatepresents.com.

 

The New Play Development Reading Presentation of “Black Super Hero Magic Mama” by Inda Craig Galvan will take place on September 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Theatre Center Mainstage. This event is open to the public and free for all who attend.

 

The New Play Development Reading Presentation of “The Veils” by Hope Villanueva will take place on September 18 at 12 p.m. in the Theatre Center Mainstage. This event is open to the public and free for all who attend.

 

 

The mission of the Black and Latino Playwrights Conference is to celebrate the voices of Black and Latino playwrights by work-shopping new plays in collaboration with professional directors, actors and university students.
