Auditions for Butler Opera Center's June 2016 Young Artist Program, March 26 and 27, 2016

This June the Butler Opera Center Young Artist Program begins its seventh season at the University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music. BOCYAP(as it is affectionately called) has developed a reputation among university and private teachers as one of the leading voice training programs for high school and early college students in Texas.

Auditions will be held March 26 & 27.

The program is intense, but relaxed and enjoyable. The curriculum offers individual voice instruction, diction classes, song and aria interpretation, dance, monologue work, classes in the history, repertoire and performance aspects of Broadway musicals and study of the science behind vocal production. There are also special seminars to help prepare young singers for the application and audition process for undergraduate music schools and professional young artists programs.

At the end of the four-week session, participants will present a public performance featuring solos, Broadway dance numbers, monologues and operatic and musical theater scenes. These programs showcase the work of the summer and exemplify the professionalism encouraged of all the young singers.
