Allan Baker's Ten-Minute September 11 Play to Be Produced in NYC

Austin gay playwright Allan Baker's 10 minute play, "...last and always", will be produced as part of AlphaNYC Theater Company's "Rainbow Festival" of short glbt plays, from September 22nd to October 1st at the Roebuck Theater,  300 W. 43rd St. in New York City.

This moving and powerful play, based on the final scene of Allan's play, "Five Minutes", imagines a gay couple on that tragic day...one in the World Trade Center and one at their home in the city...as they say goodbye.

This will be the third production of this play in New York City.  In 2009, it was produced by NativeAliens Theatre Collective as part of the New York City Pride Festival.  In 2011 it was produced by Turtle Shell Productions as part of their "Eight Minute Madness Playwright's Competition".

According to Allan, "This is a terribly difficult play for any audience, but especially for New York City audiences.  I am always moved and humbled when a theatre in the city is willing to produce it."

This will be the 8th production of "...last and always".  After New York City in 2009 and 2011, it was produced by the Blue Slipper Theatre of Livingston, MT and Buffalo United Artists Theatre of Buffalo, NY in 2012.  In 2013 it was produced by the Theatre Dept. of the University of Guam.  In 2014 it was produced by the Actor's Theatre of Santa Cruz, CA and the Third Coast Players of Clearwater, FL.

A longtime gay political activist in Texas, Allan began writing in 2004 and has since written eleven plays...all with gay characters and themes.  These plays have all been produced, in a total of twenty-two productions and six staged readings, from coast to coast and from Guam to Ontario.  For information about Allan's plays, you may visit his website at AbbyProductions.com.
