This summer marks a monumental milestone for Shakespeare at Winedale as it proudly announces its 55th Summer Season, running from July 17 to August 10, 2025. The highly anticipated season will feature the 2025 Summer Class performing three of William Shakespeare's most profound and celebrated works: King Lear, Twelfth Night, and Richard II.

Performances will take place at the historic Shakespeare at Winedale Theatre Barn on the grounds of the Winedale Historical Complex in Round Top, Texas. Evening performances are scheduled for Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 7:30 PM, with additional matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:00 AM.

"We're thrilled to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of Shakespeare at Winedale with a season of Shakespeare’s most challenging and celebrated plays," said Interim Director Madge Darlington, Co-Founder and Co-Producing Artistic Director of Austin’s renowned Rude Mechs. "From the timeless themes of legacy and transitions of power in King Lear and Richard II to the endearing comedy of love, longing, and reunion in Twelfth Night, these plays weave a meaningful tapestry that truly celebrates this reunion year for our program."

The Shakespeare at Winedale program, located in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin, provides students with a unique and immersive opportunity to explore Shakespeare's rich texts through performance. Since its establishment in 1970 as an undergraduate English course, it has evolved into a year-round program that impacts University students nationwide. Students in the summer program spend two months in the serene Texas countryside, dedicating themselves to studying and performing these plays in a 19th-century barn transformed into an Elizabethan theatre.
